Wellington UNESCO City of Film

In 2019 the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) recognised Wellington as a Creative City of Film.

The City of Film title was bestowed on and belongs to all the screen creatives who choose to live and work in the Wellington region. It recognises the many people and programmes using film to develop our youth and connect our communities.

It respectfully honours our rich film heritage and those who have come before, while recognising our commitment to leverage our screen creativity and culture for a better future.
