Māoriland screens bold and innovative films from across the Indigenous world. Some screenings are rated, while documentaries are unrated.
Please read the film description prior to booking tickets to ensure films are appropriate for all viewers in your group.
Below is a guide to the various ratings a film may receive.
Certificates showing a film’s classification will be clearly displayed at screening venues and will often have a note describing the nature of content in the film that may be of concern to viewers.

G – Unrestricted
Anyone can be shown this.

PG – Unrestricted
Parental guidance may be needed for younger viewers.

M – Unrestricted
Recommended more suitable for mature audiences 16 years and over.

R13 – Restricted
It is illegal for anyone to show or sell this to someone under 13 years of age.

R15 – Restricted
It is illegal for anyone to show or sell this to someone under 15 years of age.

R16 – Restricted
It is illegal for anyone to show or sell this to someone under 16 years of age.

R18 – Restricted
It is illegal to show or sell this to someone under 18 years of age.

R – Restricted
R means that there is a special restriction. Refer to the words on the right of the label for the full conditions.

RP13 – Restricted
It is illegal to show or sell this to someone under 13 years of age unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

RP16 – Restricted
It is illegal to show or sell this to someone under 16 years of age unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
